I simply love places like this.

I should go live closer to the sea someday...

Always makes me a bit sad to see them stranded like that.

They are so pretty when swimming around in the sea.

That walk is only half an hour's drive from here, and that was the first time I'd walked it. There is still so much I have to discover around here. I suppose that's the way of it everywhere.

Yep, I think they are the oceans equivalent of rare orchids on land.

Is it okay if I use that third picture for a painting?

I have not made a painting in 6 years and my fingers are just itching to turn that one into a painting. Something simple to get started with again.

Of course you can, I'd be honoured. I shall look forward very much to seeing a photo of the finished piece. Enjoy your painting.

Thanks. I'll show a pic when it is finished. :1156149538_coolsunglasses:

I decided to reduce it to a square format of 80x80cm.

Square would work. If it's the 3rd piccie, it might *might* look better as a painting with the background all in shades of green without that reddish part. Not sure on that one. I often look at that reddish bit and wish it wasn't there

I'll probably end up making that a more yellowish green and/or lighter than the rest. Because it does look nice if there's a bit of colour variation in the background.

And so much for something easy to start with after all these years...
That fern is going to be fiddly. :coffee:
Not that I want to make it photorealistic, but it should still be convincing as a fern.
I like the young curled bits it has. :D

I'm working on a new song. No curly ferns, but a few curly fiddly notes!

This is the current state of the painting.

The greens are brighter in real but when I tried to enhance it, the orangy breast feathers started to look like they were on fire...
They look brighter on the picture...

I'm going to put it on the wall so I can look at it more to see if anything needs changing.
Not all that bad after a 6 year hiatus if I may say so myself. :coffee:

I'd have to agree, that's quite an eye for detail. The catchlight going right across his eye makes it look too crisp, almost unnatural, but fading it out like that is wonderful. You're really quite good at this arty stuff hey?

:hat:
