The first picture is of a young male mallard. He does not have his fancy feathers yet.

The second picture is of a female mallard.

The rest is of Egyptian goose chicks.
The legs on those things! :classic_love:

Mallard I'm familiar with, but I've never seen an Egyptian goose. We have barnacle geese visit us every winter. Each species of goose seems to have its own adopted country to winter in. Those photos are all remarkably well exposed and focused.

I simply took them using my Olympus Pen Lite E-PL6. Nothing fancy really, but good enough for me.

It can indeed take good pictures.

Most of these pictures were taken using my small tele lens.

These Egyptian geese are becoming more and more common over here.
I guess they like it here. You see them during the entire year.

Cameras these days are amazingly good. Fuji have just registered 3 new cameras, but I've no idea what they are. Their existing cameras are pretty amazing as it is, so I'm scratching my head wondering what's coming. The geese liked it there so much they stayed? I hope the Barnacle geese don't do that, they 'd be a nuisance here all year, there are hundreds of thousands of the brutes winter it out around here. We get swans visiting as well. Amazing when a few swans in formation fly low over your head.

Swans in formation are awesome. :classic_love:

Luckily these Egyptian geese don't live in large groups. You usually just see a couple of couples around in one area.
All other geese that stay here during the winter do come in large flocks.

You have your own thread now Titia. Deirdre's idea, but I think it's a great idea as this is a photography forums after all.
