Titak 59
Thanks. I'll show a pic when it is finished. I decided to reduce it to a square format of 80x80cm.
George 618
Square would work. If it's the 3rd piccie, it might *might* look better as a painting with the background all in shades of green without that reddish part. Not sure on that one. I often look at that reddish bit and wish it wasn't there
Titak 59
I'll probably end up making that a more yellowish green and/or lighter than the rest. Because it does look nice if there's a bit of colour variation in the background. And so much for something easy to start with after all these years... That fern is going to be fiddly. Not that I want to make it photorealistic, but it should still be convincing as a fern. I like the young curled bits it has. :D
Titak 59
This is the current state of the painting. The greens are brighter in real but when I tried to enhance it, the orangy breast feathers started to look like they were on fire... They look brighter on the picture... I'm going to put it on the wall so I can look at it more to see if anything needs changing. Not all that bad after a 6 year hiatus if I may say so myself.
Titak 59
The first picture is of a young male mallard. He does not have his fancy feathers yet. The second picture is of a female mallard. The rest is of Egyptian goose chicks. The legs on those things! 1

George 618
Mallard I'm familiar with, but I've never seen an Egyptian goose. We have barnacle geese visit us every winter. Each species of goose seems to have its own adopted country to winter in. Those photos are all remarkably well exposed and focused.
Titak 59
I simply took them using my Olympus Pen Lite E-PL6. Nothing fancy really, but good enough for me. It can indeed take good pictures. Most of these pictures were taken using my small tele lens. These Egyptian geese are becoming more and more common over here. I guess they like it here. You see them during the entire year. George 618
Cameras these days are amazingly good. Fuji have just registered 3 new cameras, but I've no idea what they are. Their existing cameras are pretty amazing as it is, so I'm scratching my head wondering what's coming. The geese liked it there so much they stayed? I hope the Barnacle geese don't do that, they 'd be a nuisance here all year, there are hundreds of thousands of the brutes winter it out around here. We get swans visiting as well. Amazing when a few swans in formation fly low over your head.
Titak 59
The eye is better now imho.
Titak 59
Swans in formation are awesome. Luckily these Egyptian geese don't live in large groups. You usually just see a couple of couples around in one area. All other geese that stay here during the winter do come in large flocks.
George 618
I'd have to agree, that's quite an eye for detail. The catchlight going right across his eye makes it look too crisp, almost unnatural, but fading it out like that is wonderful. You're really quite good at this arty stuff hey?
