George
A friend of mine from school days decided recently to give gold panning a try, so I've advised on equipment and he has spent a few weeks preparing and this weekend I took him gold panning at Kildonan, site of the Scottish Gold rush of 1869. We packed the car, drove up to Baile an Or, and walked over the hill to the corner by the sheep circle. I chose that spot as it's perfect as a gold panning nursery or kindergarten to introduce people to gold panning. We spent two days working the gravels by the bank, and we did get some gold. It was also a good opportunity for me to check out all my gear as I've not been gold panning for years. It was good to get my head underwater again and do a little sniping. Here are a few piccies from the day.
